Home Screen issues with HTC Diamond from Orange

I've just picked up an Orange-branded HTC Diamond from the local Orange Store in Aberdeen earlier today.

First impressions are good, but there are a couple of minor niggles - just wondering if anyone had any ideas or comments around these:

1. Where is the Windows Mobile 6.1 home screen? I have the TouchFlo 3D (which is very shiny, but doesn't show my calendar far enough or display my current due and overdue tasks), and I have access to the "traditional" Today screen items, a la Windows Mobile 5 and 6. But where is the new "slider" home screen for WinMob 6.1, as shown in the screenshot here: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/en-...t/wm61-faq.mspx

2. A minor bug, but one of the fancy new features is the ability to silence the phone ring when you turn the touch face-down (similar to touching the mute button). However, if you set your mobile to auto-lock (with PIN), then once the mobile is locked, calls are presented through the standard Windows function, and turning the phone face-down no longer works...

I've only spent a few hours with the phone, but general impressions are good. The niggles above, and newly discovered niggles, might start to put me off, though... :(

For no.1 just go to settings > today and uncheck TouchFLO3D on the items tab, then add what you want.

Ah - but that's just the "old" Home Screen, so to speak.

What I'm looking for is the new "sliding panel" home screen that was specific to Windows Mobile 6.1 - the one where you could scroll left and right, as well as up and down.

After a bit of further searching around, I'm actually coming to think that this is available on non-touchscreen 6.1 mobiles only, and not on touchscreen devices like the Diamond... :D

Yes- the screenshot you link to is definitely Smartphone, not PocketPC.

The other interface you may have seen is the HTC Home and Touch Cube interface. I'm not sure if either of those will work as the Diamond is VGA, and those are mainly for QVGA devices. Perhaps a try of one modified for the X7500/Athena may work?

For multiple Appointments etc on the Today screen, you really need Pocket Breeze, or SpB Diary, though you'll definitely need to remove T3D to see those on the home screen.
