newest problem:   cant assign ringtones to specific contacts.  When i click edit on the menu in the contact list, it just allows me to edit their name and number.  nothing else.  All of my contacts are on my sim card only if tht makes a difference

Yeah it does. You have to save them to the phone to be able to add personal ringtones, email addressess, ect.
