Hi

Does anyone have any recommendations for a good quality car mount for the omnia, there seems to be hundreds available for the iphone which is similar dimension wise or poor looking quality for the omnia. I don't really want anything too bulky/flimsy, any ideas greatfully received.

Thanks

Carl

I bought this one cos it allows you to mount your device in landscape mode: http://www.amazon.co...i...521&sr=8-12

(Plus it is cheeeeeap!)

Problem with the Omnia is the location of the charging slot on the side.... most mounts will have covered this slot up when mounting in portrait..., having one that allows you mount in landscape was ideal cos i can now charge aswell.

I have that one too, its not at all bad.  I also like to mount mine in landscape mode, and it just about fits.  Only downside I would say is that due to the long neck on bumpy roads the omnia can wobble about a bit, making it difficult to view comfortably.  Only a minor gripe, I guess I am just used to the nice mount of my tomtom one. But this cradle is very good value.

Last I heard was they were being sent a device so they could create a mount.
Knowing Brodit it will not be too long.

It was the charging issue that I was after nothing too bulky. Thanks, I did see this one but wasn't too keen but since a few of you have tried it and it is cheap enough I'll give it a go, thanks ;)

I bought one of these to go with the stock usb data cable to charge the phone in my car.  The light comes on to show its getting power and when I plug the phone in it makes the little beep to indicate its connected, but it does not seem to be charging. Anyone else tried this or know why it does not seem to work.

I've had a similar problem with other USB car chargers and PDA / Phone / GPS.  I suspect the charger isn't up to the job - not supplying quite enough current maybe?  Charger works with some devices, but not others.  And other car chargers work fine with the devices.
A case of cheap products, and bad testing I suspect.

I got one similar from Halfords a while ago - fitted my missus' Wizard, my w810i and now my Diamond.  Did wobble a bit, which made viewing satnav screen a little hard work sometimes.  Rested it on the dash with a blob of bluetac to stop it rubbing.

It was cheap, bit it does say on the label that the output is 1A, thought that would be plenty.  The cable I am using is the original Samsung cable that came with the phone.  This cable charges fine via my PC.
