Hi all

my car has a 12 socket in the middle of the dash. you have to open the ashtray to access it (which annoys me at night)
so i was wondering if I can hard wire a charger cable ( I was going to use the cable from a mains charger) to a switched live in the car.

is this viable?

Hopefully not too late in replying.

You need to get a proper car charger, just using the cable without any voltage control will probably kill your device and could seriously damage the battery.
The charger needs to be at 5v not 12v.

thats what i was concerned about
will have to find a way of wiring in another ciggarette socket
