No luck on my end yet. I can use WMWiFiRouter to set up a wifi network, and my PC can connect to my mobile phone/network and I can also ping it and see the activity on the phone however I cannot access the internet. It's like the WiFi isn't communicating with the Dial up broadband. Any suggestions of resolving this, I've got a lot of time into this but this is as far as I've gotten. Thanks,

I've not tried on a Omnia yet, but on my xv6900 once you get ICS enabled you need to also set this registry key that sends the signal to VZW that lets them know you're tethered:

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\WModem]
"Multi-NAI"=dword:00000000

by 'ICS enabled' do you mean changing a registry value?

Seems to heck more difficult on the Omnia for Verizon. I was able to get the Touch Pro easily working on Verizon using the same WMWIFI and ICS cabs...

Why can't I use my Verizon phone?

             Verizon phones lack the internet connection sharing DLL's needed to run WalkingHotSpot.

I think Verizon somehow disable this feature on the Omnia or it is because the Omnia uses different WLAN chipset compared to HTC. All of the tethering method using the ICS doesn't work on Omnia. It works on Touch Pro. Both being Verizon, I was able to get Touch Pro to work easily. Omnia, I am having tremendous difficult with.

This is not an option on the i910. I searched through the registry a good bit, even looking for just WModem and it didn't exist. Perhaps they removed every aspect of ICS. I'm still trying, seems like I can create a network of computers but they're not seeing the internet through the Omnia.

I thought they screw us with TP having no GPS, but at least tether works there...

I have WIFI tethering working fine on my i910. I installed ICSInstall.cab (you can find it on the xda-developers forum), did a soft reset, installed version .91 of WMWifiRouter (again, can be found on xda), and did another soft reset. Then I fired up the ICS UI now installed under Programs (called IntShuUI), and hit connect while having the USB cable plugged into my computer. My laptop detected a "Windows Mobile internet sharing device" (or something along those lines) and set up a new networking interface that I could use. Once I was convinced that worked, I closed that out and opened up the WMWifiRouter application, checked the "Use DHCP allocator" option, and hit connect again. My laptop saw a new Wireless network, connected to it, and was able to browse the internet. So its definitely possible to get tethering to work - it might just be that you need a certain combination of the ICS files and the WifiRouter application.

I think WIF tethering is ok since it doesn't hit the verizonwireless data link.  I don't think Verizon has doing anything to the phone to criple tethering feature, it's more so on their server.  They blocked it there.

Can you share the files you used with us? And is your phone Verizon? I would be very greatful if you could do this. If you can zip them and email to me [email protected] i could post them here using my hosting.

Well since my laptop already has a wireless network card which can connect to wifi on its own, wifi tethering does me no good.

I need to share the same ev-do connection my phone has, when im on the train where there are no wifi networks available.

but it doesnt matter. Im going back to my i900(im glad i kept it!) which lets me tether and has gps enabled.

The wifi tethering does share the phone's EVDO network connection - the phone sets up its internal network card as a WIFI access point and then shares it's network connection out to any computer that connects to it. But, using the steps above, I was also able to tether using the USB cable and ICS.

Back to your i900? i thought you couldnt get it to work?

Oh, i see. I skimmed through the post and once i saw 'wifi' i disregarded it. I will try the steps you mentioned tonight and see if it works.

Can you post the file you got from xda here? I am not a member over there.
