I have attached a .cab that was created by GC at XDA quite some time ago that installs JBED and GMAIL on your PPC.  I have installed this and it works flawlessly on the i910 Omnia.  Enjoy!Attached File  GC_Java_Pack_1.2.6.cab   2.78MB   1912 downloads

Also the GMAIL version in this cab is not the latest version.  If you want the lates gmail version.  Install this .cab and then after you have it installed you can download the latest version from your phone  and your phone will display a prompt telling you that you already have a previous version of gmail installed do you want to upgrade it.  Select yes and you will be good to go!

I dont know if i910 is different than i900 , but for i900 there is no need to use a cab and install additional java.

I900 have java support included and you can simply install java apps like gmail and opera mini over the web directly to the device.

thanks for the pack!  Finally found a jbed that works with the i910.  Still, I don't any sound for any of the games I've installed.  Anyone else have the same problem? should Jbed be installed on the main memory for the sound to work?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I believe the version of gmail in the pack is old (pre-2.0).  You can instead install the latest version of gmail from google's mobile site if you want the newer version.

Maybe I'm a little slow or can't read very well, but I have no idea how to get this working.  I've tried and tried, but no luck so far.  If someone could just e-mail me and tell me the steps to follow.  I downloaded the file on my computer and transfered all the files to a folder on a micro sd card.

Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You can directly retrieve your gmail account using omnia messaging client like other emails i.e yahoo, mircosoft exchange, hotmail etc

Why you need this java client?

At least for me gmail is weird when responding to messages through the built in Outlook client. Even though it's a reply, it creates a whole new message for the receiving party with all of the text from all of the previous messages awkwardly displayed due to the threaded nature of gmail conversations which Outlook Mobile doesn't handle well. Full web based gmail displays fine using Opera Mobile, however typing a message can be frustrating as your key strokes are always 2-3 seconds behind, and m.gmail.com is too dumbed down, imo.

Thanks for the cab, much appreciated.

I'm having an issue after upgrade, the timezone is stuck at GMT, can anyone figure out how to fix this so it uses local timezone, I've tried multiple jbed versions, and no dice.

I have also downloaded the java/gmail cab file, but I am also stumped on how to install this package.  Any clues (or a simple procedure) for someone who has had little experience with mobile operating systems would be very much appreciated.  TIA.

why would you want a gmail app... you can use the email in the messaging program that comes with the phone to link to your account... and if you want full gmail then just hop on opera... gmail works completely on there... an app is just a waste of space

If you use Jblend that should solve you JAR game issue.  I had the same issue too so I just installed Java Jblend and move all my JAR games into that folder and its working fine.
