blackjack 2 and tomtom

Been all through the forums and have not found anything that says anyone has gotten tomtom software to work with the blackjack2 SGHi617 with Windows Mobile 6.1. I've successfully installed tomtom 7.915 with western and central europe 815.2096 without issue. however, of course i have the infamous "gps not found issue."

Have downloaded and installed the MoDaCo Smartphone gps activator com 4 app and installed and rebooted as it says too but TomTom still won't find the gps receiver even after going into the tomtom software and selecting "other Gps receiver" and choosing comm 4. I've tried hard reseting the phone (hold up and turn the phone on) and 1st installing the patch and then the tomtom software and then the other way around too. I've also tried both scenarios using microsoft smartphone GPSID settings.cab file and even running GPSTest.exe before starting TomTom. Have tried every combination of baud rate and comm port in every scenario possible and it has never even been able to find the GPS device in the phone.

Nothing has worked and i'm at my wits end. I have an unlocked phone and do not have a contract so i can't use google maps or windows live because i do not connect to the internet since i don't have a service plan (I use prepaid minutes). Even if I did, I would not want to since it costs money to connect to the internet to view google maps or Windows Live. I don't see why everyone is so fascintated with those two, yes the software is free, but connecting to your browser is not. That's just me and i'm not really up for debate on it. I would just like to be able to use the latest tomtom stuff with the GPS.

Anyone know how to accomplish this? i've see lots of people ask for help with this and for other stand-alone map software like garmin but it seems like no one has really posted an answer to any of them. There questions just get lost in the ongoing posts about Windows live and google maps. This question is just for TomTom on the black jack 2. Help would be much appreciated! Sorry if I sound frustrated, but I am. Bought this phone at a great price because it has gps capability but it's not really working out so far. Thanks for your assistance!

The problem with TomTom 7 is that it is designed for a touchscreen device and not the candybar style of the blackjack.

Also TomTom have still not released commercially version 7 to the retail market.

Most people use Garmin on the Blackjack2 and in the Backjack section of the site is a posted fix for GPS issues.

Hi friends,

I have a blackjack 2. I also have the Tomtom GPS system that I use in the car. From what I understand there is a way to put those files into the phone, and unlock the GPS system in the phone to work with Tomtom. Is this correct? If so, which files, and how I put this information into the phone. The model of the GPS is Tomtom One.

I tried to search but came up with no instructions on how to load GPS maps onto a phone.
