There are 2 ways to install programs, and it depends on the program itself which method you use.

The easiest, and commonest method is by installing via the PC. You first need to establish a connection between your PC and the HD. If you have not had a WinMo device before, you MUST first install the connection software on the PC. ForWinXP, you need Activesync and for Vista you need Windows Mobile Device Centre. Both of these are onthe CD that came with your HD. Once the program is installed, connect the HD via the supplied USB cable.

Once connected, you will see a synchronisation wizard starting. You can elect to simply connect without establiushing a permanent partnership, which is OK for installing programs, or you can create a partnership to allowfullsyncing of contacts, email etc.

Once that is done, then you download the program you want. For instance, Coreplayer can be downloaded from an ecommerce site such as Mobihand. Coreplayer is one iof those rare programs you haveto pay for before downloading- there is no free trial. Once downloaded to the PC, run the installation file directly on the PC, and it will go through all the transfer and installation to the HD. You can install this onto the memory card, which will be an option on the HD's screen during installation. Once complete, you can open Start/Programs on the HD, and Coreplayer will be listed.

The second method is via a file that you copy straight to the HD, then run from there. This is always in the form of a *.CAB file. If downloading via the POC first, make sure you don't open the CAB file, just transfer it as it is to the HD. Now open File Exlporer on the HD, locate the CAB file and just tap its entry with finger or stylus which will launch the installatiion.

There's the original software that coreplayer is based on - it's called TCPMP. if you go to xda-developers.com, and then look into the "Wiki" they have set up for the HTC Touch HD (aka the Blackstone) you'll find a list of programs that work with the device - There's a link in there to a modified version of TCPMP that is compatible with the device.
