Hi guys,

I'm cooking my ROM and I have a registry tweak that put the best values of screen calibration...

But, when I turn the phone on, for the first time (or after a hard reset), the ALIGN SCREEN appears and when I align, the values of my registry are changed!

So, is there a way to disable the FIRST Align Screen?

Thanks...

I found the solution, read this post (or scroll the bar to read below):

Well...

I found the program that starts...

\Windows\Welcome.exe

Shortcut: \Windows\Welcome.lnk

If you tap Welcome.exe, the ALIGN SCREEN APPEARS, REGIONAL, EMAIL, PW, etc...

So we have to find a way to disable it at start up...
Maybe a registry tweak... (I will search for it now)...

Yes yes yes...
I found the solution! :(

But it works only if you will cook your ROM...
Otherwise, you can change the registry setting, but when you do a hard reset, probably, the value goes to default!

So, you have to do this:

Open a registry editor... and point to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome
There is a entry called Disable... (if not, create it)

You have to choose some of the values below and put in the entry (this values are HEXADECIMAL)

7F - disable everything except 'email setup' screen
BF - disable everything except 'password' screen
DF - disable everything except 'complete' screen and the finishing tap
EF - disable everything except 'location' screen
F7 - disable everything except 'pop-up menus' screen
FB - disable everything except 'stylus' screen
FD - disable everything except 'align' screen
FE - disable everything except tap on the first screen
FF - disable everything [displays first 'splash' screen and exits]

If you want to put it in your ROM, try to locate the .rgu inside \OEM\OEMDrivers
There is only one .rgu there... so you know what the file you have to change...

Search in the file for the registry entry...
And change the Disable value...

Like this example:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Welcome]
"Disable"=dword:000000EF

To test it, before cook...
I recommend you to test in your Omnia...
Try to change the value, and start the \Windows\Welcome.exe to see what happens!

B)

I will cook my ROM now only asking for the time settings! :(

Enjoy!

i use this method too.

Causing controversy s0cks with this, but i think it should be okay...

The main thing to remember is that every Omnia is different, that is why this shouldnt really work, but i have not had any complaints.....YET.

Keep it up bro!

Hi, you removed the LCDtest.exe from your ROM. Can you send it to me? I would like to test my digitizer. Thank you

I got around the above in a simple way..

Create a file called welcome.not

copy and paste it to root directory using active sync

Soft reset and bingo no screen allign needed.

I then use fav hackings to choose one.

Hope this helps someone

The Favorite Hackings doesn't work to align the screen...
It creates a wrong key value...
