upgrade ROM @ VISTA different from XP?

I am curious, I don't have a VISTA on my pc now,
I checked this method, feedback great, people said it work, but instead, I want to know

Since everyone says get a XP computer and do the same predurece as I did earlier today, so it is true that the official support say "rom cannot update from vista pc", am I correct?

This is the only way to do it?
