SmartLocate is a service for users who want to experience the potential of location based services. Leveraging their phones GPS capability or cell information, users can focus on any possible location applications. It allows you to view the location of your phone and a trail of where it has been on the Jooping website. Jooping takes no responsibility for which purpose this service is used by their users.

SmartLocate is a service for your mobile smart-phone . SmartLocate has advanced GPS implementation features to reduce the cost of data transfer and to save battery live. SmartLocate runs in the background and is automatically started when your phone is booted. The simple to use web-interface allows you to view position and manage Points of Interest.

We would like to invite forum members that would be interested in joining the beta test team. Our location service is free for all, but at this stage due to the fact that software is still in beta phase we will only be able to manage a few dozen new members. After the trial period is finished and the software is signed, the service will remain free.

More details about SmartLocate:

- SmartLocate is GPS/Cell position logging software coded in pure C++, designed to be small, fast, power saving and easy to use.

- No extra hassle around uninstalling and installing correct versions of various frameworks or SQL drivers, it just works out of the box!

- We did not forget old operating systems devices users by supporting wide range of WM phones starting from WM2003 with external GPS to the latest WM6.1 models with built-in GPS module.

- Software can run in background with GPS on without consuming lot of battery - special GPS power saving feature invented by our programmers! With our special GPS power saving feature phone can work with GPS on while using data transfer regular uploads for more than 15 hours depending on phone battery capacity.

- Capable of auto-adopting to all new models that will come on market!

- Suitable for Taxi service, traveling agents, truck companies, parental control, geocaching etc etc.

Please note that current beta-test version have a predefined setting that will be changed in upcoming versions and will be available to users via web interface.

Current software settings are:

1.) Power saving is by default on - this feature will turn off GPS module after 10 minutes if cell id is not changed, this means that if you stay in some location for more than 10 minutes GPS will be automatically turned off making battery life much better. A Cell is area around GSM Tower usually in radius raging from 500m in big town covered with lot of GSM antennas or out side of town where usually distances between antennas are bigger ranging up to 5km in radius.

2.) Software will auto-upload a log file containing list of positions in interval of every 5 minute if there are data to be uploaded.

Again, this and other setting will be available online in later versions of software.

Installation instructions:

Before you start, make sure that you have your phone connected to PC via ActiveSync connection (you should be seen a green circle in the toolbar area).

1.) Navigate to your phone root folder (My Computer -> Mobile Device -> My Mobile Device).

2.) Create new folder with name: SmartLocate

3.) Copy SmartLocate.exe file to your SmartLocate folder

4.) Click on SmartLocate.exe , software main screen will immediately be shown, click on Background and software will be sent to work in background.

If you want to stop software , navigate to SmartLocate, Click on SmartLocate.exe and click on Exit.
