I've phone Orange Retentions twice now and been told that they're expecting it around the middle of the month. Will call back in two days to try again. Desperate to get it asap. Anyone else had any luck?
Anyone got a Hero yet?

Couldn't agree more!! I Got a G2 Touch yesterday and 24 hours in, I am VERY impressed.
I never thought I would switch from Windows Mobile, but going back to it now, it seems so sluggish and clunky. I may find the quirks in Android with a bit more time, but for now, I have to say its great!
The best bit is that I was going to fork out £400 for a SIM free due to being 5 months into an 18 month contract, but then I saw this post....

It's well worth a read if you are stuck in an Orange contract!!!

Mine is coming tomorrow
The upgrade price on the website was £166. I phoned up orange and i ended up getting the phone for £66, on £40\month 18 month contract. With this contract i get 1200 minutes, unlimited texts, 500mb internet per month and use of orange maps.

Got mine last Tuesday and yes, it's amazing. Cost me £28.50 on £35/month contract with 900 mins, unlimited text and unlimited internet (not 500MB but genuinely unlimited web data, according to retentions - time will tell I spose).
Battery life is absolutely shocking tho, you WILL have to charge it every night, if not more frequently. Unless you're a light user, in which case you may get a day and a half, but then doesn't that defeat the object of having such an amazing phone???
It's taken me a while to get used to Android though, coming from Windows mobile 6/6.1/6.5 and Symbian UIQ/S60.
I'm a big Gmail fan, and basically all my contacts revolve around my gmail contacts. As a result I've had to get used to (and haven't actually managed yet to be honest) the "people" concept. If you use Facebook and Gmail then you'll be in my boat, i.e. with the potential of having shed loads of contacts to sort through.
There are some amazing apps available for free through the "Market". Totally unnecessary but brilliant ones like "Steamy Window", "SchottGunn" and "Electric Shaver", as well as some really useful ones: "Shazam", "Beeb player" (basically BBC iPlayer), "Voice search" (speak to do a Google search instead of typing - excellent), to mention but a few.
I didn't put my Hero down for about 18 hours, that's how impressed I was with it. But like any gadget, it's not perfect. If anyone wants to know anything else, just ask. I'll be more than happy to help if I can.
Cheers,

Ouch !
I just paid the £166 and kept my beloved everyday 50 tariff with unlimited internet for £18 a month
Trouble is my beloved Tytn II does all that I want from a phone so why do I need a new one ?

Had mine for two weeks now and absolutely love it. Loads of great apps but I recommend SMS Backup. Something WinMo should have had years ago.
