Enabling GPS tagging of photos

I just got the T-Mobile Dash 3G and the GPS functionality works fine.  I enabled the GPS camera mode with the registry tweaks described for other HTC devices and the option shows up on the menu.  The problem is that the GPS information is not written into the photos.  Anyone have a suggestion how to get it working?
