Guest chr1s.GER
Hey all, I want to propose three apps for the MoDaCo-Custom-Rom for Hero. It is LocService, SimChecker and RemoteWipe from http://www.tracktroid.org. Maybe you ask why just not installing from market?!? SimChecker and LocService should be moved from normal app folder to system folder to remotely activating gps cause since cupcake it is not possible for normal apps. What is ur opinion? Do you prefer other apps for this services? Thanks a lot, Christian

Guest ccsnet
Sounds a good idea but I'd need to look at the services first to see if they are worth keeping. The best bit here is if they are in the ROM unless your a XDA type person you'd be safe in the knowledge that even a reset using the ROM would ensure you get notified. Guest chr1s.GER
So, I installed the software again and it works great! The Web-GUI is actually still basic, but do u need more? I have attached screenshots of LocService: LocService_afterLogin.png - This screenshot shows the menu after login on Trackdroid.org LocService_locations.png - Shows the tracking service page. LocService_config.png - Shows the configuration. The phone app will sync with this. If app is installed as system app, it will activate gps automatically if u want. See screenshots for SIM Checker here: http://www.trackdroid.org/simchecker.html And finally, see screenshots of RemoteWipe there: http://www.trackdroid.org/remotewipe.html I hope you can imagine the functions... Guest ajeje
Hi, Dev here, found this link in referrals :) Just to inform you that Remote Wipe doesn't work every time (I still have to figure out why); LocService and SIM Checker work fine, though. I'd be glad if my apps were included in a ROM, as this would save users from the hassle of moving the apps from /data/app to /system/app to get the GPS auto-enabling :) This is wicked. i hope this can be done in next custom rom. Guest Paul
I did, I NEARLY put it in, but it looks kinda untidy with 3 seperate apps for functionality. P

Guest Paul
Version 2.6 of MCR is now online. Changes: MCR now includes Wavesecure in ROM, allowing you to lock / locate / wipe your device remotely in the event of loss and be notified if the SIM is changed. The application cannot be uninstalled by a thief and we are actively working with Wavesecure to ensure that in a forthcoming release, your settings will survive a hard reset! The Chinese version also returns, I am uploading this now. P
Guest rico2k_uk
used to have sim checker and the others, 2.6 beats them. They can be put in the data/app directory manually if needed. Overall prefer the one that paul has used!

At the end of the trial, you will be prompted to subscribe. i just registered, does that mean i have to pay from tomorrow on if i want to use it anymore? Guest chr1s.GER
Ok. Wavesecure is nice - really nice! Paul, can u propose feature requests to them? It would be really, really nice if wavesecure remotely activates gps. Mfg, Chr1s
Guest kendon
ok, thats great. i hope it will stay free, though i would consider paying a small fee over the year. but gps is a must! paid or not.

Guest kendon
And I am actually not sure if incoming sms are the best way to talk with device. Hum. for this case it is the best way imho. as you know the number if someone swaps the simcard you can send it to the new number, the only way to prevent sms from being received is the airplane mode or the phone beeing turned off. would be great if the message alert would be suppressed, but i guess it's not that easy. do you have an idea of a better way? data connection is out of the game, as that would require the app to keep a connection to the server at all times...
