Gunna go collect my Hero today just wondering what the first things I should do with it.
Should I update the rom to newest or use custom rom?
Should I root it first?
Which apps etc, would you all suggest I look out for.

Hi,

First thing I did when I got mine yesterday: Played with it for a few minutes.

1. followed this guide to root it: http://forum.xda-dev...ad.php?t=552793

2. I installed the new Modaco ROM: http://android.modac...the-new-update/

3. Enjoy a GREAT phone.

I got mine a few days ago. Had a play around with it for a couple minutes literally before installing MoDaCo custom rom following the pinned thread on this forum.

Then had a few issues sorting out the text message issue but since then, been enjoying it.

Got it, tried it, custom rom'd it. Sorted.
No sms issues which is good, now time to get me some apps
