Hey all,

I'm relatively new to mobile phone technology - PC's et al. I can deal with (degree in Computing  :) ), but for some reason, Mobile tech confuses the hell out of me.

Basically, in lieu of the recent news that T-Mobile are trialling 21Mbps mobile network connections over 3G (3.5G...), I am left wondering a few things.

Mainly - Will my Hero be compatible with these newer speeds, once they are implemented worldwide? I'm lead to believe that 3G technology is supposed to be fully backwards-compatible, but, like I say, mobile tech is confusing... Though I rarely find myself in a place where a good 3G signal is being received where I live currently, all this is good to know. Something to look forward to perhaps?! I'm aware that current tech won't be compatible (or capable) of 4G network speeds (or will it...) so, I know that much!

I'm also aware this is probably Google-able, but I fancied having someone actually tell me what I need to know  :)

Thanks in advance,
John

The device will still be usable unless the actual frequency gets changed which is highly unlikely, but being actually able to utilise the full available speed is another matter.

The reception icon on my Nokia N95 would requently change between 3G and 3.5G. This was on orange so i'm guessing T-mobile are just getting round to makine this available.  I'd assume the Hero can use it.
