The well known Leo has just made an appearance in an O2 marketing magazine as the HTC HD2. Some rumours suggest that it could be here as early as the 12th of October (yes, less than two weeks away), though Engadget think it may be here on the 26th of October.

Interestingly, the page seems to highlight it as a gaming device, as well as a media device. Though they're wrong about "the largest screen on a phone" as the Athena based devices have 5" screens!

Either way, I have a suspicion it may pop up with the global release of WM6.5 on the fifth of October.

The specs of the Leo for those who have forgotten:
  • 1GHz Qualcomm MSM 8250 (Snapdragon)
  • 320MB RAM
  • 512MB ROM
  • 4.3" Capacitive screen
  • 1230mAh battery
  • WM6.5
  • 5MP camera with twin LED flash
  • 3G/HSDPA/EDGE/GSM
  • 3.5mm headphone jack!

I thought the Leo was going to be an Android device?

Why did you think that with all the Leo builds of WM 6.5 doing the rounds?

Personally I don't get the obsession with milti-touch (maybe not everyone is obsessed with it, but certain msm* sites are :)

Capacitive screen and the rest are excellent specs, that battery seems wanting though.  One person in our Co. has an iPhone and I'm baffled as to why he seems to accept not getting 24 hours out of a charge.  Hope the Leo gets more than that!

I don't know if I like WM these days, but only really have tried 6.1 and the OS itself is not fingure friendly. Although I have seen all the 6.5 vids its a step in the right direction, but underneath its still a stylus type OS.

Android being designed for fingure use only looks better, and I don't like apple so that rules out the iphone.

If the HD2 is WM7 upgradable next year then it maybe worth it...but still not convinced on 6.5......but this device looks really really good :)

Because I'd heard the "new HTC phone" was Android rather than WinMo. I don't get much chance to peruse the forums these days so I'm not as well informed as I once was.

My bad. Ho hum.

I don't get multi-touch either on a mobile device where'd you'd have to use two hands to be able to do multi-touch. Apparently the Leo can last a fairly intensive day and a half, so maybe 1GHz won't kill us all!

I guess the hankering for true multi-touch extends from features like zooming by spreading the thumb and forefinger in web and photo browsers, and gaming of course. With most of us having more than one finger on each hand, I don't see the need to use two hands to use a multi-touch screen. :)

I need two hands to multitouch zoom on my Hero. One to hold the phone and the to do the gesture. Doing it all one handed isn't really possible. It's a nice featyre to have but not something I use loads.

Ahhh - you see I'd never contemplated the supporting hand as being involved in the gesturing! But I see your point.

Exactly.  Until I get guarantee of WM7 upgradabiliity, I'm not buying any 6.5 device... :)
