**(Hi Need Advice/Help *asap*)**

I have ordered an HTC HERO and it should be arriving in a couple of days and here are my questions: (in no particular order)

1. It is an T-Mobile G2 if I root the device and install an CUSTOM ROM or an GENERIC HTC ROM will it become unbranded like will all the T-Mobile rubbish disappear including the splash screen?

1i. If the T-mobile splash screen doesn't not disappear how can i get rid of it?

2. Will it become unlocked if I root it an install a CUSTOM ROM? (unlocked to all networks)

3. Do have to PARTITION my SD card what does this do and what is SWAPPER and EXT3?

3i. If so How do I PARTITION it? (is there an APP)

3ii. Are there any side-effects consequences by PARTITIONING my SD Card?

4. If I have APPS2SD and remove the memory card what happens to the APPS?

5. If I format/hard reset the phone and have APPS2SD will the APPS still work?

6. What is an RADIO (I'm assuming it's not FM RADIO) and do I have to update it when I install a custom ROM?

7. If I format/reset the phone will the phone still have the CUSTOM ROM and RECOVERY IMAGE and will it remain ROOTED?(are they permanent)

8. How can I confirm my phone is ROOTED?

I hope to get a reply from you guys soon

Thank you.

1) as the t-mobile ROM only has a couple of bookmarks and a shortcut, you wouldn;t notice the difference when running. The only thing you'll see is the splash screen when you boot up and you can delete the rest.

2) no, you cannot change the splash screen. but it only shows when you turn it on so it's not exactly a big deal being that most people leave their phone on all the time.

3) no, you don't have to. you only need to do thsi for Apps2SD, and if you don't know what that is, then you don't need it. read more about apps2sd and then decide. reading will answer 3i and 3ii as well.

4) they disappear till you reinsert the card.

5) if you are using a ROM like the modaco ones with Apps2SD installed, then they will appear as soon as you turn the phone on. if not, you'll need to install Apps2SD again to get them back.

6) radio is the wireless part of the phone (Network, Bluetooth, GPS, Wifi). the custom ROMs do not update the radio, and you can update if you have problems, but if not, leave it alone.

7) Yes. Only an RUU will wipe them. Hard resets don't.

8) You'll know. use a pre-rooted ROM and don't worry about it.
