Guest Charlton22
Why should I root my Acer Liquid? What are the pros & cons when rooting? What can my device do more when rooted?
Guest AcerDroid
many linux lovers like me find rooted phone sexy. with root, you can install and uninstall system or builtin apps, enjoy the adb(google it), develop your own app and run it on your device and the most coolest thing is, you can do bluetooth or wifi tether ;). there are more out there dude :) but its not recomended as it may brick both your warranty and phone

Guest AcerDroid
You need to be root then follow this http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/ but I don't guarantee that it will work on Liquid (but tested on G1). I do tethering but using other method, I use USB port and ADB instead of wifi (power-wise) using this http://graha.ms/androidproxy/. It basically opens a SOCKS server on your Liquid so you can surf the web using a SOCKS proxy-capable web browser or other programs like Firefox through USB. If you want, you can use it as a modem but the method I am using is much better cuz your Liquid and PC can connect to Internet at the same time.
