Bought myself a Palm Pre today (it leaves on Monday LoL) but one thing I really like about it is how it renders email, On the Nexus the default view is zoomed in so we have to scroll around everywhere to read the email with no option to zoom out, whereas on the Pre it shows the full email on its little screen which is still legible with the option to zoom in.

So my question is, can multi touch be added to the Gmail app to allow zooming?

Could be a bit tricky, i know that cyanogen was asked the same thing with google maps, and his reply was bascially no.

Reason being is that the google apps are all closed source.B) where as the browser and gallery are open so they can add the code in.

I could be wrong, so please someone correct me if i am. :)

What you have said makes perfect sense.

I'm just disappointed as a main feature of a Google phone it is handled poorly in comparison to others. I have lived with it since the G1 so I suppose I'll be OK. I suppose if I hadn't seen such riches I could live with being poor..... :-)

Would be good, but how often do you receive an email that's probably mainly pictures that require to be scrolled about?

Mine generally fits on the same screen :)

A lot of my emails are HTML and it isn't a lot to ask to have them formatted correctly on the screen, obviously text emails are displayed correctly.
