Works perfectly the apps2sd ?
How much at max can we "enlarge" our free space with sd ? (ext2 -> max 512mb??!)
Can we use this apps2sd also with android 1.6 altought 2.1 ?

Sorry for these question, but I need to know that.

Bye

Apps2sd works but, as I wrote on top of the topic, the boot image you are using must mount ext2 partition on boot. Lickonn custom rom 0.3 provides contains a kernel which mount the partition. It's 1.6 compatible.

ext2 parition size is max 4Tb. The only thing to respect is the order of your paritions.
Apps2sd can be used with android 1.6 and 2.1 IF your kenel mount the ext2 partition on boot.

thanks for the update malez.
however i get error running nandroidbackup from the recovery but it works if i run it from the shell.

Have log of error from reco menu ?
Are you sure you were not connected via the shell, so nandroid was unable to umount one of the parition. For exemple if you are on shell on /data/ and lauch backup from recovery menu, it will be unable to umount data filesystem. As I enforced fs check and security, nandroid will stop, to take any risk.

So your phones must have some specific things I don't know. In this thread http://android.modac...-recovery-mode/ Umka said he finaly managed to flash recovery after an update via acerTool. Maybe you can try. Actually you can't install any recovery I thing. I will pm you the original img file to see if you can enter recovery with it.

I've tried recovery_original.img, still not work.
I flash other official rom by acer download tools, recovery works well.
Thanks for your support.

Raymond Chen had the same ussue as you with its asian rom.
Apparently after flashing an official bin file with acer downlaod tools, recovery worked.

As I've read from malez (ext2 parition size is max 4Tb. The only thing to respect is the order of your paritions), I can create so one partition ext2 of also 1GB for example to expand my memory for installed apps to 1gb?
I need a little guide for do all these stuff... :(

You can create a 1go ext partition.
Use the recovery menu (adb shell malez) to do that.

I copied the recoverylog for ya
or atleast the part that should be interesting

Storing the ext2(Apps, Dalvik-cache) contents in the backup folder.
Warning: --ext2 specified but unable to mount the ext2 partition.
..KO
Error running nandroid backup. Backup not performed.I:Set boot command ""

Dont have any ext2 so not really sure why it wanna mount it whereas if i run it from the shell it works perfectly

No need to be rooted. You can even root/unroot your phone directly from the recovery menu :(

For those who are on an 1.6 android and would like to use app2sd, here is an update that was made by Lickon and that mount the needed partition on boot. I can't test it as I am on 2.1 rom but I used it before on 1.0.4 emea. Might not work on 2.0.16. Tell me and I would rebuild another specific one. Moreover it may downgrade your busybox version to 1.15.

I don't have time to update its content now.

Original post was here http://android.modac...custom-rom-0-3/

http://rapidshare.co...p2sd_update.zip
md5sum :
f7162a4dae4b967e00a2cb53697115b0 app2sd_update.zip

Installation instructions :

boot in recovery mode
make a nandroid backup (to have you current boot image and system on stock)
copy your backup to your computer
place app2sd_update.zip on your sd card root
reboot in recovery mode (adb reboot recovery)
choose install any zip file on sdcard and then app2sd_update.zip

when phone is booted, adb shell mount.
You should see something like
/dev/block/mmcblk0p2 /system/sd/ (rw)
make a backup of your sd card content
then you can reboot in recovery, choose "Split sd for apps 2 sd" (all data on sd card will be lost) and launch "app2sd" to move your apps to the sd card.
Reboot

if phone does not boot after flashing, simply restore your nandroid backup in recovery mode (adb reboot recovery is the easier way but you can use buttons too)

Does MalezRecovery v0.21 support the use of ext3?

I prefer to use a journaling version of the ext file system. Perhaps very slightly slower, but more robust.

IMHO ext3 is a bad choice on such storage device as liquid microsd.. writing on a (class 2) sd is already extremely slow!
Journaling moreover is meant to avoid dataloss and filesystem unconsistency risk (which can be related to writing operations went wrong after an incorrect unmount), but app2sd partition is used just to store installed apps (ie: the partition is used just for reading @99%), I really can't see how it can be useful here..
Just my 2 cents :(
