Please help. I sold my phone on eBay and the guy has done a runner with the phone plus the refund I gave him.

All I have is the IMEI number. Does anyone know I could track the phone wherabouts.

This phone also has GPS. If the IMEI number relates to the GPS signal in some way could I pick up its location? I would then give this to the Police.

Anyone have any ideas about this or any other way of tracking its location?

What about reporting your Provider? I think your Toshiba isn't that old, uTrack was installed?  Well if it is, it's a simple process   Bossrickross

Further Information about my phone.

It was on the Orange Network and is a UK model. Will reporting it to Orange mean I can recover it as a pose to just blocking the phone?

Will reporting to Toshiba of any use?

I really want to recover the phone.

Nahh, reporting Toshiba isn't a good Idea, because Your Provider is responsible for your private Information and Toshiba is only for the service! So go and get your paper's to Orange and let it ban hm...recover isn't possible    but locked the phone is possible I hope i can help you

This phone can't be untraceable.

It connects to the internet and has GPS. Can obtaining the MAC address help? My local Police say they do not have the resources to do these things.

if you refunded using paypal, contact paypal they may be able to revert it. (i assume that "done a runner" means ran off with the phone. english is not my first language ). by complaining to police and orange all you can do is block the phone from being used and if you get it back, it wont be of any good to you. Also, reporting to police wont be of any help as in 99% cases they wont do anything. i think they wont feel it worth chasing for it. happened to me twice. my house mate sold off my phone to carphonewarehouse, i complained but nothing done in 2+ years !!

police dont need gps or internet usage to need where ur phone is ... they can trace and find a nokia 3310 if they want to , they just simply dont care ... if u have a friend at the po-po's nows a good time .


and yes , u should'nt believe the guy and tell paypal he stole the phone and get ur mony ...

Unfortunately, I don't think you will get much joy via the constabulary.... apart from maybe a Crime Ref Number which will be needed if you want to make a claim on your household / personal effects insurance (not sure if that is possible, but might be worth exploring as a case of property theft); however I would suggest that your absolute best bet is to follow up vigorously with eBay / PayPal - both have the personal details of the 'buyer' and make a big point about avoiding / addressing criminal / fraudeulent activity on the site. Make your case to PayPal (assuming that was involved in the transaction) and I think you will find that the seller protection should help you. Definitely worth a try.  Good luck
