I'm considering to switch the OS of my I-Mate SPL.

Will the change of the OS from WM6.1 to android or an other OS result in a faster and less energy-consuming phone?

I don't have a contract with internet, so I dislike much traffic over the 3G-connection, for updating or for example synchronising contacts.
What can I expect about the traffic?
