Any recommendations on how I move my 1000+ SMS's from my old Hero to my Desire?

Thanks,

Dan

Install SMS Backup & Restore.

Make a backup on the Hero and move the sdcard to the Desire and do a restore.

Worked perfectly for me ;)

Could try SMS Backup & Restore from the Market. Exports them to an .xml file on your SD card.

I tried that first and it does not import. It sees the file but then just says :

Successful 0

Failed 0

Total 0

So it exports from the Hero but then won't import on the Desire?

correct, the export shows over 1000 sms's, but then it will not import...

I use "SMS backup". It won't transfer the msgs from hero to desire but you can transfer all your Hero messages to you gmail account under a "SMS" Lable. To access your old messages simply use Androids Gmail app. Then install "SMS backup" on your Desire and never loose another message!

I second the SMSBackup option - at least then if I break/lose my phone or have to wipe it, the messages are still in my gmail account. Also keeps my messages client nice and tidy!

I know though that some people like to keep all their messages in one place. Not sure of the best way to sync them, though once rooted it would be a simple case of copying over the message database.
