Install HTC Sync first. Then working ADB Driver. Sorry for my English

HTC Sync only works with the version off you sdcard when you got your phone, unless they have updated again??

Also are opening the commands terminal or driver as Admin?

1) Install HTC Sync up to date

2) run HTC Sync

3) plugin phone

4) select "HTC Sync" usb mode

5) Run patched adb program

did you do all that ?

Yes I installed the version that came with the phone and then updated it.

In that case then try using this methord if your wanting root Best and easiest way !

If your just wanting the adb all i can suggest is using a 32bit machine, as it says on Pauls guide windows x64 is having problems for some users.

On another note you can PM CraigCrawford1988 as i know he has a working x64 install

Or you can try this! < Untested, but seing as the hero is usins sense might work, Or follow guide subbing the HTC Sync for the one you have.

i had trouble with this on my pulse, go to device manager, find the device that the drivers need to be installed fro, click update driver then browse my computer for driver then clock pick my driver from a list, then select have disk, then browse to the program files where you installed the suite, most probably program files (x86) then in the suite directory there should be a file with drivers in it, most pc suites have a amd64 and 64bit folder...

if this doesnt work i not sure what you can do as i dont currently have a htc device, just milstone, x10, and pulse x2.

Download the drivers from here.

  1. Put your device into USB debugging mode (Settings > Applications > Development).
  2. Extract the drivers to desktop.
  3. Open Device Manager, right click the phone and click Update Driver Software...
  4. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
  5. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  6. Click Have Disk...
  7. Click Browse...
  8. Browse to your desktop and go into the usb_driver folder.
  9. Select android_winusb.inf and then select Android Composite ADB Interface.
  10. Turn off USB debugging mode.
That should work. Edited by craigcrawford1988

Have you tried using "Search automatically for updated driver software" and allowing it to search online?

Try this:

  1. Open Device Manager, right click the ADB device and click Uninstall
  2. Tick Delete the driver software for this device. and click OK.
  3. Download USB Deview and open it.
  4. Sort the list by Serial Number and look for anything with HT at the start (e.g. HT00GPL00000).
  5. Highlight them and click Uninstall Selected Devices in the top left (looks like a recycle bin).
  6. Unplug the phone and then plug it back in.
  7. Open Device Manager, right click the ADB device and click Update Driver Software...
  8. Click Browse my computer for driver software.
  9. Click Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer.
  10. Select Show All Devices and click Next.
  11. Click Have Disk...
  12. Click Browse...
  13. Browse to your desktop and go into the usb_driver folder.
  14. Select android_winusb.inf, click OK and then select Android Composite ADB Interface.
  15. Click Next, when the Update Driver Warning appears click Yes.
  16. If all is done correctly, it should say Windows has successfully updated your driver software. Click Close to finish.
It should look like this when you're done:

I'm so happy I found this post. I was searching all around the internet trying to fix this issue. I was about to give up for the day so thanks for doing this and showing the steps. It was easy and it worked great.

I wish I was as lucky. I can get the phone to connect via USB just fine, no errors in Device Manager, but when I go to sync, the sync starts, I see a contact icon show up, and then a calendar icon above the sync status; after about 10 seconds I get the green check mark like the sync is done, but no data has transferred. Now I have a thousand contacts so I know it should take longer than that.

Any thoughts?

Thanks for this answer Craig,

It nearly worked for me.

I couldn't install the drivers you posted, or the ones from the SDK, but could install the ones in C:\Program Files\HTC\HTC Driver\Driver Files\XP_x86

These get installed with HTC Sync

Steve
