21/May r1.1 - MoDaCo Custom Kernel (MCK) for HTC Desire

Note: This kernel is now included by default in MCR r3.1!

I've rustled up a MCK (MoDaCo Custom Kernel) for the HTC Desire, based on a configuration that myself and Teknologist have built up over time.

It's not undervolted, underclocked, overclocked or anything like that, it's just tweaked and massaged to run your device as nicely as possible as well as giving you the extra cool stuff you need like support for EXT4, enhanced support for Wireless Tether and suchlike.

It'll be included in future MCR release, but for now, it's an update zip to apply via the recovery image. Enjoy - feedback appreciated!

Flashed and booted! - Seems to be pretty smooth!

I know you say it isn't overclocked, but will it allow overclocking?

Edit: Just tried with Overclock Widget, doesn't seem to change anything.

The unit operates between 245 MHz and 998 MHz. But stay constantly on 768 MHzt.

Yeah, I've noticed this - my Linpack scores are lower now...

Seems like this kernel is slightly broken Paul. Though, even for lower clock speed it does feel a lot snappier overall.

Just flashed this.. i dont even notice it runs slower clock speed tho..

Yeah, it's strange. I think the optimizations Paul made hide the lower clock speed .

You would have needed some sort of backup like nandroid. Unless you compile the Desire kernel that HTC released a few days ago.

Note that since this is locked at 768MHz, it'll drain your battery quicker!

Any idea when r2 will be available?

Just reapply your old ROM.

when u say wifi tethering, will it fix the "need ping" issue?

thx

I haven't had time to test this yet... if not I think I can fix it in the next release.
