Sorry for the new thread, but I just had to shout out that they do have a half-useable ROM!

You can follow the developments here!

Problems so far are:

  • Camera
  • Microphone (So no calls)
  • HSPDA
  • Bluetooth
  • 3G Unreliable

But it's still FroYo!

Download Now!

I will update this as more developments happen.

Why would you use this if you cant use the Mic?

Or am I missing something

Man, I'm so gonna laugh my ass off when some of you impatient buggers brick your devices.

Hold your horses guys. Your expensive phones won't thank for you screwing them up with an update that isn't ready.

Go ahead and laugh while the rest of us tries things out ;-)

Just installed the ROM - great stuff  Very smooth, no graphical glitches, WiFi works great - installed apps from Market etc :D

Just need the Microphone to work, and I'm a happy camper.

Great work untill now.

No.

Luckily I never use bluetooth and camera ;-)

I personally still only need the mic

Poor me that uses boath on almost a aily basis. Seriously, good work developers behind this, but the question is; will the development stall, like 'oh so many' android ports. When it comes down to driver programming, developers in general tend to back off. ''To much work over there mate, le's move on.''

I couldn't care if it was 99% usable. What's the point of using it if you're getting an untrue representation of it?

its a dev forum ... the idea is it ISNT a representation of the froyo is a representation of what WE want froyo is just the canvas to work on so as far as a TRUE representation goes .... how do you define that?

What's so wrong with using Android 2.1 while we wait for 2.2? Android 2.1 is still an extremely high quality OS...

I have none of these bugs, you're probably using the old ROM

Problem is while the OS code might be open source and available, many of the hardware drivers are only available pre-compiled as binaries and thus the only way to upgrade them is to reverse engineer them. HTC cannot release them due to being bound by agreements with their component suppliers. Blame capitalism.

This is not a dev forum like XDA.

Ahh, it reminds me of the old days (ie less than 18 months ago) when all us G1 users were waiting for someone to port the Magic rom. These days I am happy to wait until something stable comes along. My own personal take is that HTC be worried that lacking 2.2 will hit EVO sales in the states so will be porting sense just as fast as they can. It would not surprise me if Evo gets it first.
