Appaantly to downgrade to 1.5 on my vodafone uk htc magic, because its not a perfect SPL, i have to create a goldcard, now, is there anyway to root my phone easier than creating a goldcard? (too complicated for me), when i try to do the sappimg.nbh file, i get incorrect id, i followed every guide

Yes you can do it with the android development tools on a pc, using fastboot

Basically fastboot boot your recovery image, then use the recovery image you just booted into to write the recovery to the phone, you now have amon_ra's recovery installed on the phone and can boot into that to flash the cyanogen rom, this works with the hboot you have as its how i did my phone.
