When I switch my camera on I get the message 'Unable to save SD card due to insufficient file permissions'

I cant find any settings and the only way I can fix the problem is to turn phone of and back on, but the problem returns within a day or so of use of the phone.

Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.

ha ha missed that one! fat32

Weird. There are no 'permissions' on FAT32. Can you do:

adb shell

df -h

mount

and post the results of the 'df -h' and 'mount' commands?

Think I did this right? the -h command said '-h: not found' so type only 'df' and got:

# df

/dev: 203948K total, 0K used, 203948K available (block size 4096)

/sqlite_stmt_journals: 4096K total, 0K used, 4096K available (block size 4096)

/system: 256000K total, 225088K used, 30912K available (block size 4096)

/data: 151168K total, 86828K used, 64340K available (block size 4096)

/cache: 40960K total, 4736K used, 36224K available (block size 4096)

/app-cache: 8192K total, 4676K used, 3516K available (block size 4096)

/sdcard: 3863996K total, 299792K used, 3564204K available (block size 4096)

then typed 'mount' and got:

# mount

mount

tmpfs /dev tmpfs rw,mode=755 0 0

devpts /dev/pts devpts rw,mode=600 0 0

let me know if this is the info you need or if I did something wrong?

thanks

Hi

I also had this problem before i rooted the phone and replaced the SD card with a bigger one (16GB).

I did not try to backup and reformat my card. I suggest you try that first.

Best regards

Looks like this problem may be down to a bug or faulty sd card supplied with phone, found this article on HTC evo 4G with a similar problem.

http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/04/word-of...t-a-worse-time/

"If you read our review of HTC's awe-inspiring Evo 4G, you might have noticed that we recommended ditching the paltry stock 8GB microSD card and living large by throwing in a 32GB model. We were being a wee bit facetious, but as it turns out the advice was well-founded. We're seeing reports flung far and wide across these great united internets about errors regarding "insufficient file permissions" when attempting to write to that packed-in card, others finding that the phone will simply fail to read the card altogether. Our first suspicion was bogus flash, like the counterfeit ones that plagued the Chumby, but HTC spokesman Keith Nowak indicated they have identified the cause and there's an OTA fix coming "very shortly." We know it's early, and apparently not too many of you have rolled out of bed yet to get your Evo today, but sound off in comments if you're seeing this issue as well. Meanwhile, we're trying to replicate it on ours."

I think I have found another hassle-free solution. At least it has worked for me after having replaced the original sd card by a new (bigger) card.
