Bricked Streak - fixed!!

Hi,

When trying to install the new .pkg update for my streak things seemed to go terribly wrong. First thing is it didn't work, then when re-flashing the stock recovery image in an attempt to see if it worked the whole thing just decided to give up on me.

All that happens now is it turns on and sticks at the DELL logo. Here's what I've done so far:

Just to mention from beginning I had root and the custom recovery image installed.

When the update didn't work I downloaded the 3883 stock recovery posted on this site, copied it to SD card and chose to flash it using Koush's custom recovery image I've previously had installed - this is when it started to stick at the Dell logo. After this I wiped data/factory reset and cleared the cache and tried again to the same thing. I then downloaded the 4399 update recovery image and same problem. I've re downloaded the Custom recovery image and root superboot and re-applied them to the phone just incase and tried multiple times again to re-flash the stock recovery images. No matter what I try it's the same thing, sticks at dell logo.

When ever in the custom recovery image a note that constantly pops up is "E: Can't Find MISC", i'm not sure what this is, any ideas?

Edit: thanks guys, able to post this on my latest build streak, thanks very much!

Note: I do have accidental damage cover on the phone - so if anyone knows how to get things at least looking ok to send back then i'd appreciate it - if all else fails I guess I gotta break it to the point they can't read any info off it. I just don't want to cry into my sink tommorrow as I watch it sink to the bottom!

This is literally the exact same problem as i was having (see the other brick thread)

what you need to do is remove Koush's recovery and reflash the original one (found in here) and then flash the dell update using the original recovery menu. fixed all my problems and i had literally exactly the same problem as you!

quick edit: the dell update is here

Ok, you'll have to forgive me if I'm just stupidly missing something out here, so please bare with me -

going to terminal, opening up the folder the recovery file is in and typing the above, but i'm not getting anything, my terminal window looks like this:

macintosh:~ liamspencer$ cd /Users/liamspencer/Desktop/untitled\ folder

macintosh:untitled folder liamspencer$ ./fastboot-mac -i 0x413c flash recovery recovery.stock.img

-bash: ./fastboot-mac: No such file or directory

macintosh:untitled folder liamspencer$

oh you need to have teh fastboot tool in the folder as well... download this and place the recovery.stock.img in there then run the command and you should be sorted.

Hi WilhelmsBrick,

I thought i should bring to your attention whilst i was trying to flash my custom Rom i was getting the same E: not found message and then realised that my memory card was actually D: not E: so if this happens to you again what you need to do is choose the update from SD card option and then scroll to your update.zip and then it should work hope that helps if you need it.

Hi Dogmann55

I already tried that, as I hadn't renamed the .ZIPs I had to go to that section anyway, but I also changed the name later on and still no avail on the flash from update.zip.

thankfully this seems to be working, downloading the update now - not having an SD/Micro reader i'm resorting to having to swap the SD into a t-mobile pulse to drop files onto - i'm now wondering if i've messed things up by copying a custom ROM for that by accident at some point too - but that would just not run i'm guessing.

in general: the Pulse - eurgh. (sorry if anyone likes the pulse, the gf loves hers now I flashed 2.1 but me and it hate each other)
