2 Line SIM - get rid of icon???

It appears my sim chip has the abilty to have two phone lines.  I have a Samsung I8000 running wm 6.5. Is there a way I can permanently get rid of the "line 1" icon that appears at the top of my screen?  I takes up space and i don't need it because I don't switch between phone lines.
