Crashing with GPS running

Hi all. I'm running MCR 21, and I've noticed a trend when I'm in the car. If I'm running google maps, or google navigation, almost every time my phone will crash between 10-30 minutes into the trip. There's no errors or anything, I just notice the screen goes blank and the phone starts to boot. It's pretty annoying.

How can I go about troubleshooting this?

I've installed aLogcat if I need to view log files, but I haven't really used it yet.

have you checked if the phone is overheating? mine tends to get pretty hot in the car dock, I have to put it in a place where I can point the airconditioner to it

You should never let your phone get that hot. Are you using an overclocked kernel? (your signature's "kernel" is actually the radio version)

My best advice to you is to keep the dock unplugged while holding the phone (if this is possible, I don't have a car dock), as charging while using that many battery-intensive apps/features is never a good idea.

Even if you have the AC on it, the phone is still hot inside. It helps, but doesn't really solve the issue.

You're absolutely correct, so I've updated my sig.

Radio: 32.36.00.28U_4.06.00.12_7

Kernel: 2.6.32.9-27227-g3c98b0d android-build@apa26 #1

Build: MoDaCo Custom ROM r21 based on FRF91

No overclocked Kernel. The number should be showing in my signature now.

I also don't notice it getting overheated. I tend to keep my car an icebox, and with where it's mounted on the dash, it gets a jet of AC pointed at it.

I'm not using a dock either, this is just a standard DC adapter plugged into the accessory cigarette plug.
