I'm using the same mods and as you I've installed them by baking them intro the ROM. I'm having no problems with sync, and they are all working fine (well except Twitter but that's because of the auth change).

I do however also have the RIL installed, but i don't know if that will make a difference.

You can't sync at all, or sync doesn't work only when screen is off?

thank you!

yesterday reading the thread in XDA I was thinking that it will be cool if this scripts are added in Pauls ROM .. and yes  you did that.

Thank you!

P.S. The XDA link in the first post is oppening a 404 Not Found page,

it have to be: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=768314

Hi Sub501.

As a bit of a non-techie could you answer the following please.

1. Cant remember if i did the perflock thing what ever that is.

2. I can update the radio myself (I am on 32_2)

3. Can I just download to sd card the signed_power_update.zip and update via rom manager

Very good battery life which is what I am interested in.

Thanks

So, check "disable perflock" in kitchen and include "custom.zip" in Custom Ingredients...

Thats it?

Just flash the new rom and its working as it should?

Yep!

Or if you already have the ROM with disabled perflock you can just flash signed_power_update.zip

ignore me... the sync gmail option under the google account was switched off!... not sure how this happened but it's back on now and working...

I have to say that the battery life gain with this mod is superb. ;)

For reference I cooked a new rom with disable perflock, added the custom.zip to the kitchen, flashed rom (with wipe), restored apps/system data with titanium backup. = AMAZING BATTERY LIFE

to test if it's working, download aLogCat from the market and filter on the word governor then switch off the screen and then back on... you should see some entries like:

I/98mods01_screenstate_scaling( 2076): *** sleeping ***: switching CPU frequency governor to -> powersave

I/98mods01_screenstate_scaling( 2084): *** awake ***: switching CPU frequency governor to -> interactive

2. You HAVE to update the radio yourself to version 32.47.00.32_5.10.05.23 if you want to apply the signed_ril.zip

3. If you know you have perflock disabled you can just flash signed_power_update.zip yes, otherwise you can just bake another ROM with perflock disabled and add custom_zip.zip at custom ingredients part of the visual kitchen.

Can someone explain what the hell RIL is/stands for? I keep seeing it mentioned.

The OP has 2 mods.

One that adds 2 new governors and makes them switch between each other by screen state. (custom_zip.zip or signed_power_update.zip)

The second that adds the RIL and other libraries extracted from the ROM that contained the 32.47.00.32_5.10.05.23 radio. (signed_ril.zip)

Extra info about RIL can be found here.

Think of it as the layer (or driver) that interprets what the OS does and sends it to the radio and vice-versa. When you use a radio that's not the standard one used in the 2.09 OTA, it's normal you also extract the RIL and other libraries associated with it.

Now this only works if you have that specific radio.

I played with some XDA published scripts and created some updates for Paul's MCR R8:

*** a custom.zip that can be merged during kitchen build via 'Custom Ingredients'.

*** a signed_power_update.zip to install it via Custom Recovery in case you don't want to bake a new ROM.

WARNING : The 'disable perflock' must be checked in your kitchen (I based the init.d scipts on this).

.... I have to reflash again today

Any possibility to have signed_power_update.zip for r8 with disable perflock UNchecked?

I have a R8 ROM flashed on my Desire and would like to install this MOD.

I do not remember if I have checked the 'disable perflock' when baking the R8 ROM.

Is it possible to check this? I don't want to do the backup thing (it always ends in a complete wipe)

You COULD try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.p...mp;postcount=10

It says it will disable perflock without having to rebake a ROM, but I haven't tested it.

After you manage to get it disabled you just flash the signed_power_update.zip

Hi,

Install root explorer, goto /system/etc/init.d and check if you have '97perflock' file.

Then, goto /system/lib/modules and check if 'perflock_disable3215.ko' is there.

Also, if perflock is not available in logcat you should see an error "FAILED switching CPU frequency governor to"

Cheers

Yep, using a terminal is also my favorite way to check. Not everyone here knows Linux so I'll keep the newbie way (root explorer) and logcat.

Ok thanks, I've checked (AndExplorer works also) and don't have the '97perflock' and 'perflock_disable3215.ko' files.

And I see the update so it's possible to install this MOD now, much appreciated!

Now it's up to me to read the first post and what to install. Am I right that I have to installe the following files:

- signed_ril.zip (because I've baked the radio)

- signed_perflock_update.zip

- signed_power_update.zip

It is for a already installed ROM baked without 'disable perflock' and the radio update.
