Really nice review Paul! The desire () to have this phone just increased even more.

One thing though, I wouldn't put the MSM2772 under cons, not for that price

Great review - a worthy companion to the You Tube video you posted :-)

As a Galaxy Portal user (rooted and kitchen'ed thanks to Samdroid site) I am always interested in graphics and 3D performance on budget Android devices. Especially one that has a 3.5" OLED WVGA screen , I find the Galaxy's screen just a little too small at 3.2" (while the resolution of HVGA (320x480) is fine).

What's the 3D performance like i.e. Angry Birds, Google Earth etc?
And Divx playback performance in Rockplayer? (Divx works out the box on the Portal very well).

Galaxy portal has a very poor graphics driver (being worked on by valiant modders - but who knows if it will come out usable and stable).

Approx £100 (with quidco etc) and a nominal amount to unlock it  seems a good price if the 3d perfomance is good to allow me to go up a notch screen size/3d games performance wise. I can always get most of that/all of that £100 back selling the Portal on ebay hopefully.

Many thanks for the review and detailed low down on this seemingly almost perfect budget/mid-range Android.

@ Paul: How's the screen plastic(glasst?) quality? Is it safe to use it without a protector? I' planning to buy a pouch, but not sure about the protector..

Hard plastic I would assume... couldn't really comment on the robustness, altho I NEVER used screen protectors.

I'm a noob here. But looking around it's a brilliant site. I'll be back quite often!

Thank you Paul for all the info so far. On the strength of your posts on this phone I purchased one today. I've literally just purchased the unlock code and unlocked it too. I've got an O2 Sim. The phone works fine but there's no Data? (I have Unlimited on my plan). I haven't tried texting, MMS and/or email yet. Is there something else I need to do to get my Data (internet), working?

Thanks fr the review, that's the Mrs birthday present sorted out - at this price if she doesn't like it its not a HTC Desire sized dent in the pocket - and I get to change my pulse

Top review Paul.  I've had the phone a few days and what impresses me the most is the speed of internet browsing - I find it lightning fast both over WiFi and 3G+ - add in the superb screen and the internet experience on this device is very nice  

Bit of a downer about the FM radio only playing over headphones - could this be fixed with a software mod?

Hello all.   I live in the US and my famliy and I are on the AT&T network.  I was wondering if they deliver orders for this phone to the US and when unlocked will it work with AT&T data plans?   I was hoping to get my kids each one as an early Christmas present.

well orange wont but there is ebay or if you know anyone in the UK who could buy and send to you
