I recently saw Huawei U8500's spec, pretty good, 512rom/256ram android 2.1, 320autofocus, 320x480 capacitive, a-gps/wifi/wcdma, optical trackpad.

However I cannot find the equivalent international version, just saw this in China.

Is there an intl. version? (like u8220 to tmobile pulse)

or, is there any custom roms?

if root and custom rom is not available, then the device's value is at least cut in half, since all google's services (maps, etc) are not there, only a lot of China Unicom's customized apps. No android market either.

i have one (available here in sweden for 100€) and it's a good phone for that price. Fairly standard Android 2.1 setup. Shouldn't be impossible to crack the bootloader, i would suspect it's similar to the other Huawei phones which have all been farily easy to crack...
