droidfish aka stockfish on:

Palm Pre 500mhz (Webos1.4.5): ~8.000 NPS

APAD Rockchip 600mhz (android1.5): ~10.000 NPS

Palm Pre oc. 800mhz (Webos1.4.5): ~13.000 NPS

ZT-180 10,2" Pad : ~15.345 NPS

Palm Pre oc. 1Ghz (Webos1.4.5): ~16.000 NPS

Iphone4 800 Mhz (IOS): ~80.000 NPS

HTC HD2 with 1Ghz (android2.2): ~100.000 NPS

Samsung Galaxy Tab: ~108,500 NPS

Advent vega tegra2 1Ghz (android2.2): ~131.700 NPS

Netbook Intel Atom N270 1.6 Ghz (Windows XP): ~143.000 NPS

Advent vega tegra2 1Ghz 2cores (android2.2): ~220.500 NPS

Laptop T7600 2.2Ghz 1 core, (windows vista64): 1.000.000 NPS

with a special version of droidfish (the core number was set default with 2 cores)

the good benchmark of 131.700 NPS increased to the very good 220.500 NPS !!

so we have the first multi-cpu using chess program for android !

And another unique thing: the pad is almost 1/4 the speed of

my 2.2 Ghz notebook with windows vista64 bit and stockfish

as 64-bit engine on 1 core.

i am very happy with these values.

For reference the Dell Streak running Steves 1.4.5, OC to 1150Mhz gets 133,000NPS. I think this shows the advantage the Tegra Cortex A9 has even in single core mode.

Steves 1.4.5 is a custom Froyo build for the Dell Streak that includes an overclock kernel. Partly made form scratch, partly rebuilt from Dell original Froyo. Its pretty damn fast and shows that the Advent in single core mode (and somewhat unoptimised) is at least as fast. The Streak running that build hits about 2000-2200 in Quadrant which is one of the best scores for a snapdragon device.

can you tell me why we have two figures for the vega, one with 2cores?

in other words, what i am getting at is, does my vega get the higher figure (assuming its better) and if not, does this mean i have to do something to get a better result from my processor

The 2 figures have come out because originally the test was done with a different version of the benchmark software, and that only used one core, this new version uses both. All Vega's should be capable of the higher speeds.
