Hey Guys,

I'm sure this is related to my other post about downloading roms from modaco on my Vega, so if it is I apologise for starting another thread.

If I go to www.modaco.com on my vega and then click on the link for the android section, nothing happens - it just reloads the windows pages, I'm sure I've read of this problem before on other devices in here, but cant remember the solution - even tried a full wipe and same thing happens ? Help ?!??!?

Cheers

Email yourself a direct link to the forum. The main page is very annoying I have a feeling its something to do with how the user string in the vega browser is set up.

Thanks for the advice, but main problem is that I cant download Roms from Modaco direct on my vega, I dont want to mess about with my laptop every time, I might be wrong but I'm sure the downloading problem and browser problem are related.

I had the same problem last night (had just received my shiny new Vega!).

I thought it was strange as it kept forcing me to the Windows Phone section even when I clicked on 'Android'

I downloaded DolphinHD and (in DolphinHD) set the browser agent/user agent to 'Desktop' (Default setting is 'Android').

Modaco worked correctly then. (In DolphinHD,not the bundled browser)

Sligthly off-topic, the bundled browser on the Archos101 has the option to switch agents, but on the Vega the option isn't there!

The TV-out is completely different too between the devices. (Did a quick compare with my mate's one)

Just tried that...every time I click on the Android link it just opens another window of the front page...argh !!!!

Its the same in every brower..almost as if something is redirecting everything I do on Modaco to wrong place...allI want to do is download roms to my vega....so frustrating now...maybe I should of kept the Archos 101 I returned instead of the Vega ;)

@Nigel

type the following into your browser and then add it as a bookmark - http://android.modaco.com/forum.html

Then login and you'll be fine.

In Dolphin HD - go into the settings and find the option "Download in background" and tick it.

Now see what you get. ;)

you could also try the following link - http://android.modaco.com/category/474/adv...ega-modaco-com/

Edit: and my user agent is set as: Android

The only way I know of downloading new ROMs from the Modaco website is via an initial download to a PC or Mac device then running the install program from there with your Vega connected by USB as spelled out in Pauls posting on the subject as follows:-

* Ensure you have USB debugging enabled on your Vega (enabled in Settings->Applications->Development)

* If you are using Windows, your USB 'Android Developer Bridge' driver MUST be the one included in this download (use 'Have Disk' functionality in device manager to change if required)

* Download the zip file of your choice from the links provided (or the online kitchen) and extract on your Windows PC, Linux PC or Mac

* Connect your device to your PC

* At a command prompt / terminal, ensure you are in the directory you extracted the files, and run 'install-windows.bat', './install-linux.sh' or './install-mac.sh' as appropriate

* Wait for your device to reboot!

If there is a different way of doing it I'd be interested to hear but I suggest you try what I believe to be the 'official' route first.

Hi, Thanks for your reply...I've done all the above fine and am now running Paul's 1.04 with Performance Pack, I now want to mess about with baking a few Roms with different settings and download them direct to my Vega. I can do this fine on my SanFransisco so surely a Vega can do it .....can't it ?

Not as far as I know but I'm new to Android and the Vega so I just follow the prescribed route. Maybe in due course a Vega based upgrade path will be provided but for now I think we have to put up with the PC route ;)
