Hi,

Is there such a device that would allow me to connect my mobile phone via it's Mini USB to my local network / ADSL gateway via RJ45 Ethernet cable that can also charge the phone at the same time, without the requirement for a computer as a pass through?

My requirement is to have my phone connected to the internet, via local ethernet cable to my ADSL gateway, but also have the phone charging at the same time. My initial thought was that there must be some kind of USB cradle (or adapter) for the phone with a Mini USB power input socket and RJ45 to connect to the internet. Only access I have to the internet is through an ADSL router via RJ45 ethernet cable, not via mobile data plans or wifi.

Possibly something like this Hitachi SimpleNET USB Drive Network Adapter, but unsure if it would work for what I need.

I've searched and searched, and just can't find what I am looking for.

Can anyone advise on a product or a simpler way of doing this?

Cheers,

Tom.

Wireless router would be the simplest way for most, however that is not an option for me in my working environment.

So, surely there must be some product out there that can do this? After all, smart phones have been available with mini usb for years, but not necessarily with wifi (or bluetooth for that matter).

Anyone else know how to do?

I have a similar question. I use a USB surfstick on my laptop and would like to get my ZTE Blade to access the internet via the USB surfstick. How could that be done? Everyone speaks about tethering your PC to your smartphone but how is it possible the other way round?
