So how to remove recovery.img? And how to then flash with windows tool? :D

Thanks

To repeat: I dont wont any "fastboot, clockwork.... " or any other modified rom: I wont original LG 2.1 :P

Hi.

I tried out the Cyanagen Mod 2.2.1 ROM, and decided to go back to the original LG 2.1 ROM.

The process was very straightforward, as follows.

1: VERY IMPORTANT STEP - YOU MUST DO THIS:

With the CM 2.2.1 version STILL ON THE PHONE, boot into fastboot (with phone switched off, hold down camera button and power on button until screen goes black)

Connect to pc and use the following fastboot command.

fastboot -w

Im not going to explain how to download the android-sdk or use fastboot, as im assuming if you are at this stage then you have already worked that out in order to get the 2.2.1 working in the first place.

NOTE: IT IS VITAL YOU EXECTURE THE FASTBOOT -W COMMAND BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO GO BACK TO THE STOCK LG ROM.

The reason for this is because when flasiong kdz roms, you simply boot up the phone, then perform a factors reset to clear all the leftover userdata etc... However if you attempt to reflash a stock LG ROM frmo the 2.2.1 ROM the phone will not boot up and just ends up in an infinite loop on the Cyanagen Mod Splash screen and therefore you cant get into anything to do factory reset.

fastboot -w basically ereases all the user data, so in theary acheives the same as a factors reset in this circunstance.

If you do not carry out this step first, then when you flash the stock LG ROM it will not boot, you will then need to re flash a fastboot rom to be able to get into fastboot mode to do this step, so make sure you do it first.

2: SECOND IMPORTANT STEP:

Once you have done fastboot -w, unplug the phone frmo the usb cable, and remove the battery.

DO NOT switch the back on or boot it back up, otherwise this will recreate all the userdata again, and you will have to start again at step 1 to remove it.

3: Switch on the phone into DOWNLOAD MODE (volume down button and power button), then connect to PC USB cable.

Make sure you have disabled the LG MODEM driver in device manager.

4: Flash original 2.1 ROM using KDZ_FW_UPD as normal.

I have tried this myself and have gone back to the original 2.1 ROM without any problems whatsoever.

Also going back this way doesnt mean you need to use clockwork recovery, you go back to an official standard LG ROM.

I am very greatfull for this info.

Since yesterday I wasn't able to start my phone, I re-flash with fastboot mod firmware, and with clockwork moded firmware, and LG 540 worked.

I re-flashed to 2.2.1 , type command you say, go in download mode, and flash with official rom, but again, I stuck with LG logo. :D

Only rom that gives life to my LG 540 is 2.1 Clockwork moded rom.

I try several times, but there is no way that stock rom work :P

Im not sure why that is happening.

I flashed mine to the CLockwork 2.1 ROM, then used fastboot to update to 2.2.1

I used the instructions i posted above, and Ive managed to go back to the official LG 2.1 ROM, unmodified.

Im not back on the official ROM designed for my phone (V20C) Carphonewarehouse 2.1

WHen you booted into fastboot and typed fastboot -w, did you see a message saying somethign along the lines of "erasing user data"?

also as said you did make sure after doing this, that you DIDN'T allow the phone to boot back up before going into download mode?

Yes I sow message erasing user data.

Yes, also: I remove battery, put it back, and go directly to download mode

Also try to flash with Emergency but not of use

DO you have the option set to 3GQCT in KDZ_FW_UPD when flashing the 2.1 ROM?

YES

The only thing I didn't try is use your 20C firmware., I use baltic 20B and try to use 20D.

Where abouts are you from? Which is the official firmware version for your phone/region?

20C worked fine for me, and this is also the official firmware for where I live.

I cant see how other versions of 2.1 wouldnt work though, as most are all the same apart from locale changed and a few apps added/removed.

What actualyl happen when you switch on the phone after going back to 2.1?

I am from Croatia- Europe, and on my phone before was 20B.

When I finish flashing, KDZ tool says: flash complete and LG go to restart. Then shows LG icon, then animation, LG icon again and stuck. I leave it more then 30 minutes but nothing.

Then only rom is work for me is Clockwork recovery rom.kdz flashed via KDZ tools.

Dude i have i silly question . I can't understand how to use fastboot -w . Is the same command by doing the first 3 steps installing the cyanogen ??

with the flashing cyanogenmod.zip to the android folder and then type in cmd

cd C:\Android

fastboot.exe -w

fastboot.exe erase system

and then go to your second step ??

What is point of this process? - to explain

When you flash with any rom , and when mobile phone boots up, and start working , he will create and write many files to /data partition.

If you leave that data, and flash with some other rom ( and especially 2.2-2.1) it is big chance that rom will stuck because those files are all ready written in /data.

So that is reason you must execute fastboot - w, to erase those data. Then you can flash ROM , and mobile will write new data for that rom.

ClockworkMod will be overwritten and will be gone.

Following the above steps will put the phone back to an official stock LG rom, as it will be completely unmodified, and will be back to standard 2.1 just like it was if you had updated using the LG support tool the official ways.
