Guest rferrett
thanks, your experience is UNVALUABLE!!! So erm, if we buy one of these should it be pretty easy to fit into the Vega? Or is this high level stuff where you really need to know your thang to be able to do it?

The 3G module is available to us, but the sim module that attaches to the top which also houses the connections for the wires are not at this time I think. If we had all these components it would simply be a matter of plug n play, with the right rom ofc.

Guest warriorscot
Would This work do you think module You would still need the miniPCI adpater which might be more difficult to source. Installing it shouldn't be hard just a case of plugging it into the right prots and either screwing or gluing the miniPCI adapter in and then attaching the 3g module. Personally I would rather have a cheap GPS adapater and/or some more internal memory a small 64gb flash drive would be brilliant.
Guest dimondigital
the main task is to find this "magic" adapter - if find some, we can discover a lot of opportunities (wimax, ssd, gps, 3g... maybe something another) I hope so...But I think all this depends of oem manufacturers, when they will include 3G, GPS etc as options in their devices... so then we can see concrete proposals... Will wait.

I have got even better idea about free Internet anywhere for our Vegas. Think about Kindle 3:D. Probably we can use 3G module and Amazon's SIMM

Guest huwwatkins
Might be worth asking the vegaccs guy on here or the vega twitter feed. The bit that sits between the 3g module and the mainboard looks like a proprietary part

Just opened my POV mobii, but no adapter in it, you are very lucky. Can you see a partnumber of that adapter card and antenna card? Wy dont you use the smartbook 360 rom. And buy the same card. Then you wil have 3g and gps.
Guest Jenne2112
In case that there is the connector i would suggest to get the Huawei EM770W card and then use the Firmware of the smart surfer.

In case that there is the connector i would suggest to get the Huawei EM770W card and then use the Firmware of the smart surfer. Well the vega and the POV kernel do allready have 3g support... It do like i did say register the 3g modem i have and the one i did ordre should be the same as the 3g version that POV will come out with. It is a Sony Erricsson F3307G ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?Vie...T#ht_2429wt_905 ) so am going to test that first... The option load for the Dell card but i guess the strings to search for networks etc etc are diffrent because it fails on that. ---EDIT---- Did just take a look at the module and there is no partnumer on it. There is one on the cable but that only bring op some dvd lenses on google. I did take some pictures but forgot the micro usb cable for the cam so have to go home in the lunch to get that. ---EDIT 2---- Any of you that have the smartsurfer firmware... i am sure i did not get it downloaded when it was here... i can provide mirror for it on my server and upload details. :P Edited February 11, 2011 by ParanoidSPV
