Welcome to 'Paul's Featured Apps', where I pick one of my favourite apps as featured app of the day! Today's app is...

ShootMe

What they say

Quote

ShootMe allows you to take screenshots of your device. Just fire up ShootMe and give a good sustained shake or shout to take a screenshot. If present, the light sensor can be used as well.

On higher end devices (a8/neon based) one can record movies as well.
Audio support for movies/screencasts is under development.

Only supports ***ROOTED*** devices.
What we say

A great app for taking screenshots, now with limited video support!

Permissions

ROOT / modify/delete SD card contents / record audio / control vibrator / retrieve running applications

Download

View ShootMe at AppBrain or the Android Market website.

Direct Market Link (for on device)

View on Android Market

QRcode

To use, install 'Barcode Scanner' from the Android Market.

Similar / Alternative apps

Also check out Screenshot, however there are no other apps i'm aware of that offer video capture.

Suggested improvements for the next version

More speed / stability in the video capture (which i'm sure will come!)

Used it and... I recommend not to use the video support. Used it myself for 30 seconds and needed to take out my battery as the device got extremely slow.
After rebooting I found about 500+MB of pictures stored on my SD card?!

Taking pictures, I actually like drocap2 much better. Is lots more stable...

Biggest problem I found with Shootme is that the images are all upside down!!
Not a problem, you might say, they can be rotatated etc but when you want to look at them and turn the phone over, they change over and are still upside down!!
Ok to make an image, not too good to look at them later...............

Just loaded screenshot and it works fine with the shake activation set. Also has a useful "rotate" option which means I will keep this instead of shootme.

do you mean the paid-for 'Screenshot It' app?

the free app simply called 'screenshot' on the market doesn't seem to have a rotate function.

had no problems with it, is free which is a bonus, this now seems to have been removed from market, so if you like it back it up.

I would add, when finished using it either freeze it or uninstall as has a tendency to drain your battery.:)

Shootme was removed from the market by the developer. Any other app left? Or do I have to use the PC + JDK+ SDK option to create screenshots?
