HSDPA works, Edge doesnt anymore

Hi Guys.

I am having some problems with my Blade.

2 days ago Edge stopped working and i only can connect vie HSDPA.

I used to have Edge enabled (2g) to prevent the battery from draining to fast. Worked great....2g was perfekt for mail and my usual traffic.

Now, when i enable 2g in the options my phone wont connect to the internet anymore.

checked APNs, all good..didnt change anything there.

When i switch back to WCDMA it connects thru HSDPA and all works.

Problem is.....when i come into an area that doesnt have HSDPA available i dont have any connection although it worked a few days ago

I switsched from JJ4 to JJ9 today and did a clean setup, whiped cache and did a factory reset.

Didnt solve the problem. Tested standard APNs but that didnt held too.

I wouldnt be so frustrated if i would have a connection with HSDPA...but as i said above...we dont have a good availability of HSDPA in this area :(

I am running out of ideas here.

Does anyone have a pointer for me?

Update:

Wachting the news this morning i did another clean flash of JJ9. Agein, not able to switch to 2G manually. But as i was driving to pick something up thru an area where rhere is no HSPDA but 2G my phone did a automatic fallback to 2G. So basicly it works...but why cant i switch it to 2G manually?
