No WIFI after update

Evening people, I have a problem with my HTC Desire.

Not had much luck with technology today so I'm cheesed off and I'm aching all over from digging in the garden, washing and waxing the car and all the missus has done is watch the effing wedding!!

Anyhow, during a 'lunch break' I decided to have a fiddle with my phone and stupidly enabled 'check for updates' from the \ABOUT PHONE\SYSTEM SOFTWARE UPDATES\SCHEDULED CHECK. There was an update, so I downloaded and installed. Unfortunatly this disabled my WIFI and this no longer works. I'm thinking this was the update that I avoided back in 2010 because of this problem. Additionally I thought my GoldCard was in the phone - it wasn't.

Originally the phone was from 02, I debranded it and installed an unbranded rom on the phone, no rooting anything like that. Prior to this update the phone was working fine, typical eh "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

Current spec of phone is:

- HBOOT: 0.920001 (I think, bit small)

- Android Version: 2.2

- Baseband: 32.43.00.32U_5.09.00.20

- Kernel Version: 2.6.32.15-gf9c0527

- Build number: 2.29.405.2 CL2637770

- Software Version: 2.29.405.2

- Browser Version: Webkit 3.1

What I want to know is how can I return back to a fully functional WIFI enabled phone if at all possible?

P.S the phone has the OMLED screen. I've been away from the whole 'rom, flashing, update scene' so please help.

Many thanks in advance!

After much faffing I've now returned back unmodified WWE 2.2 froyo rom, Firstly I found this thread, followed the instructions there then downloaded RUU_Bravo_Froyo_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.8_Radio_32.43.00. 32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed and installed.

Hope this helps somebody!
