On My Alacatel OT-980 unlocked (bought from Carphone Warehouse October 2010) I had it running fine on Virgin in UK and also on an Airtel SIM when I was away in India.

Now back in UK I have switched from Virgin to the Three Network. It picks up most of the net fine, but won't access the main Gmail account. It will, however, access the same account if I go in through the Google search engine, signing in from there.

I am considering re-setting it to factory settings, and I'm also considering rooting it (I see there are instructions for rooting it on this forum). As I'm very uncertain in this I'd appreciate some input from an experienced Android user.

PS: The phone must have sensed me posting this because I had another go and it all worked!      

I wonder if it was anything to do with the new network settling in....

mmm the main Gmail is working, but now it's not letting me add another account!
