Hi guys.

I am looking for the best Pair/free email solution out there for my LG 2X P990.

I want to mark, copy paste text without braking my fingers (The ipad suxxxx but has a very comfortable email solution) and previewing all the folders...

I am using IMAP most of the time. I have seen a few solutions but i want something that is Integrated into the system (Ex new mail notifications...).

To make things short, I am searching for something that is as close to Outlook/Thunderbird as possible.

Your help is appreciated.

Thank you very much !

This is amazing 49 views but no response.

Well i have been spending my time and buying and testing Mail apps.

It seems like the best one for me now is the k9 free client.

http://code.google.com/p/k9mail/

It is possible to copy text without editing the mail and there are allot of comfortable functions.

I am almost happy about this one. i can say one thing about the paid apps. they are full with BUGS !

still waiting to see if someone can offer something better.

Cheers.

Just to let others know, my personal experience with other popular mail app - Maildroid - is that it drains the battery like hell.

I plan to try K9 since it handles IMAP folders gracefully (and supports IMAP idle push as a bonus), which is the only reason I can't use LG mail app for all my email accounts (1 x windows live, 1 x imap, 1 x pop3).

Do you see any impact on battery witt K9?

TIA

I set up my K-9 to gmail and companies IMAP. also set it to use WIFI only.

So far i cant say i noticed any difference. it checks for new mail every 15 min and i set it to be silent at night time.

I am very happy with this app. i travel allot and i need a pocket email solution that i can actually work with and K-9 gives me just that. if i need to copy something or quote some info from a different mail without starting to edit and mess my draft folder.

I am very happy with it so far.

Ill keep on testing, by the way it was updated just 3 days ago and you can send request to the developer.

It is too bad there is nothing else out there. i would pay big $$$ for a good solution. but as far as i can see now K-9 is the best and it is free.

and it is not only my opinion, just look at the ratings of this puppy at the app store.

Here are my findings from a short research yesterday.

My Top Email Clients

1) k-9

2) Enhanced Email

3) ProfiMail email client

4) Stock Email (NOT LG)

5) MailDroid (payed)

I did test others but i dont think they worth mentioning

1) K-9 is very well supported and there is an ongoing development. very snappy with nice features. they could improve the mark/copy/past functionality and make the UI smoother. other than that this is the one i am going to use from now on. the best part is that k-9 doesn't drain my battery :P

2) Enhanced Email was pretty good but had allot of issues such as random settings reset and very high battery consumption.

3) ProfMail is very unreliable to update new email. seems not to work when the device is asleep. other than that it worked very nicely and doesn't cost too much.

4) there is nothing to say about the stock ver. it works but not very comfortable as a full email solution but hey, it works  .

5) MailDroid is worthless. it does what it says but the ui is extremely slow and very laggy and i had allot of different issues with my Exchange server.

and deleting email using imap seems to be very problematic, the messages stay on the server(it wasn't settings issue i checked).

And again very bad Exchange support an developer support isn't very good (allot of complains from users and my emails never got answered).

I cannot trust this app for my work email account.

I hope this helps you guys to make the choice.

I don't give up my search and keep looking for the perfect Email app.

cheers

the stock email client is pretty good IMO.. i stick with that (i freeze Gmail w/ titanium)

whenever i search Gmail history..

I recommend K9 if you dont like the stock one.

+1 for K-9. The stock client doesnt delete pop/imap mails off the server (pretty crap considering how long android has been around) but anyway K-9 seems very good!

Well It is just a setting in the stock mail app.

You can choose to delete messages from the phone and the mail server at the same time.

I never really got on with K9 as it could never connect to my exchange server at work.

I now use Seven Mail. http://www.seven.com/ You have to register for the 'beta' but it's free and stable for me.

The best thing about it is that that it connects to exchange over Outlook Web Access which seems to by pass the security policies which other mail clients seem to struggle with.

It doesn't seem to chew through the battery much either.

For some reason i thought the option is there but now i did unfreeze on the stock client and couldn't find the option.

For me the LG email client never worked so well. so i am now i have the Google email stock client using FR18 beta 2.

I can suggest you to clean up the cache, it might solve the problem.

The beta doesn't have a native Android app - it's J2ME - is it really any good?

I 99% sure that it is a native Android App i'm using. I.e I installed using a apk file, and it's well integrated into Android with respect to notification settings, send to shortcuts, widgets, etc. I'm not saying is perfect (it's still a beta and it wasn't been updated in a while), but it works for me.

Just thought I would mention it as no one else has.

Cheers

Thanks - maybe I'll sign up for the beta then, and hope that they allow me to download a native app :P.
