Usual health warning as I haven’t a clue what I’m doing, it just seems to work.

How to make Bluetooth work for a Xenta Bluetooth Keyboard WKB-1500 I bought from ebuyer; nice small keyboard.

1. Download the following files HIDD.DAT, HCITOOL.DAT & HCICONFIG.DAT from https://code.google.com/p/androidobex/downloads/list

2. There are several ways to get these onto your Vega, probably the easiest is to cook an R8 ROM (unsigned) then add the three files to the system\xbin\ directory. (SU will be in there already)

3. Install the ROM in the normal way, that is the difficult bit done.

4. Using GScript light (download from market) create new script with the following content:

5. hcitool.dat scan (make sure you check the “Needs SU”) on the add script screen.

6. Switch the Bluetooth keyboard on and start Bluetooth by pressing small black button on the back, Blue LED will flash on the front.

7. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the Vega.

8. Run the script, this will show “Scanning ………” and underneath a series of numbers in the format XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX Bluetooth Keyboard will appear. This number is important as you need to connect, make a note of it.

9. Go back into Gscript and edit your existing script by adding the following to the existing file hidd.dat XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX where you replace the X’s by the characters you noted down, don’t forget the colons between each pair of characters. A carriage return is necessary between each command.

10. Add a final line hcitool.dat con.

11. Your final script should look like this….

hcitool.dat scan

hidd.dat XX:XX:XX:XX:XX:XX (X’s replaced by your unique code)

hcitool.dat

12. Save the edited script.

13. On your desktop select shortcuts, gscript lite and select the appropriate script you just created. This will appear on your desktop.

14. Switch off the Bluetooth keyboard then switch it back on and start Bluetooth by pressing small black button on the back, Blue LED will flash on the front.

15. Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on the Vega.

16. Ready to go …… run the script and the blue light should go out and away you go.

Mouse and stuff on the keyboard don’t work and keyboard mapping is a bit odd but it’s okay for general use. Only got this working yesterday so there are probably hundreds of bugs but it seems to work where everything else failed……
