hi all, great forum and some great info here so far. Looking forward to messing around with some mods once I get up and running with an android tablet.

I reckon Im quite tech savy (mainly PC windows base / phones / media tanks players / general gadgets)

My main reason for contemplating a tablet at the minute is that I have never had any experience with android and want an oportunity to become familiar with it. Curretnly have the iphone 4 which is great and does everything I want but have contemplated getting a tablet mainly for sofa browsing and apps for my 4 year old daughter (she is constantly on my iphone and has 20+ apps she uses regularly. Thought she could use it in the house for internet use (always on cbeebies flash content and other educational sites) and in car for apps and music /video.

Im interested in the functionality of android and how it measures up to apple and microsft in useabilty.

My first purchase there to dip my toe in was one of the chinese andriod pads. Seemed like great hardware spec - Samsung cortex a8 / 512 ram etc and only 90 quid delivered. (umtil ebay told me the seller has been removed and now Im in a claim process)

Anyways, more research on here and elsewhere has pointed to securing a capacitive screen and spending more money and Im curretnly shying away from the chinese models and contemplating shelling out £200 - £250 on something branded which has a good folowing here

Basically its between the

samsung Galaxy

Advent vega

Dell streak

Any other suggestions would be welcome.

Really edging towards the vega and wondering since its not really available anywhere in store if £200 at this point is overpaying (maybe new one on the way) and how come the private seller has been able to enable the device to access the market without installing a modded rom??

What should I buy??? What should I buy????

Where did you manage to find a Vega out of interest? I couldnt find stock anywhere i looked.

I've recently just bought the Hannspree tablet for my mum in law as Misco offered £100 cash back so it worked out at £150. She loves my Asus Transformer so hopefully this will do a job for her

I just picked a Vega up on Ebay. Used a few times and came with a cover and docking station. All in delivered for £200. Happy days.

Just need to figure out how to root it (or whatever it's called)as I'm a tad clueless when it comes to that sort of thing.

I know. Don't even know what rooting it means. The one I picked up off the bay has the option of a number of mods / roms on the supplied sd so still to get my head around these too
