ANDROID: MMS with data APN disabled survey
Dear Android users!
Spinning off from a CyanogenMOD for the ZTE Blade thread here in Modaco, I'm trying to collect information regarding the sending and receive operations of MMS without using having cellular internet APN enabled.
This doesn't work on my phone and I'm trying to find out why as I know its possible and other users also seem to be interested in this feature.
Some carriers, provide different billing options for data and MMS, hence it is important to separate them. They usually provide different APN configurations to achieve this.
This way, one could disable the internet (and only turn it on when needed or wanted) and still be able to send and receive MMS!
Please note that I'm after a very specific use case and not searching for alternate configurations like totally disabling internet or using fake MMS services (like go MMS).
I want to: Be able to toggle on and off the Internet and be always able to send/receive MMS.
So:
* Users that have 2 different APN configured (one data/internet and the other for MMS).
* Users that use cellular data sporadically (enable and disable the internet when is convenient for them)
* Users that use MMS.
Please help.
I ask the following:
What phone:
What ROM/version (Especially if carrier or user based):
What carrier/country:
Do you use an app such as APNDroid or APN Portugal (or other tool to toggle cellular data)?
(These apps disable the Internet APN by altering their settings with a "#" and rendering them invalid)
1) Can you send/receive MMS when "Settings->Mobile network-> Data enabled" is OFF and internet APN is enabled:
2) Can you send/receive MMS when "Settings->Mobile network-> Data enabled" is ON and internet APN is disabled:
I'm assuming that MMS APN is always enabled and that with Data enabled and the internet APN also ON you have no problem sending MMS
Somehow, I feel I'm missing out something important so please leave your thoughts and experiences in this thread.
Thank you
