Both the Optimus 2X P990 and Optimus Black P970

will receive their official 2.3.4 android update in October.

As I try my dad's Optimus Black, LG has actually improve their own UI a lot..

out of the box, P970's stock UI is even more smooth than my 2X.

Really looking forward to have the new official update from LG..

I really hope they don't hack GB around FroYo like they did with the G2x

Is the 2.3 LG update likely to be better than any of the 2.2 custom ROMs available here? Does 2.3 bring anything significant that 2.2 doesn't have? Will it be worth bothering with the LG update? When will android support multicore cpus?

2.3 Brings a lot of new things mostly under the hood. Better power managment, faster, smoother, sip support, better sound, more "codecs". Its well worth waiting and upgrading to it. Android already supports multicore cpus ^^ The correct question is "when will the android applications support mulicore cpus"

The answear? When they ll need it.

LG French support says that the 2.3 is deployed in Holland and it will be for France in September for sure.

I'm in the Netherlands and haven't received Gingerbread yet. I'm running V10c which came over-the-air on 2011/07/05.
