hello everyone,
I just received my skate SFR (staraddict) with 2GB SD card supplied:
-> android gingerbread 2.3.4
-> version baseband: P743B01
-> kernel version: 2.6.35.7-perf + zte-kernel @ Zdroid-SMT
-> Build Number: GB_P743FV1.0.0B03

impression of the moment:
-> start much faster than the blade (splash screen and bootanimation base)
-> very reactive
-> much faster in use
-> much better sound quality than the blade
-> ease of use with its large 4.3 "screen

Samsung Galaxy 551 : gingerbread 2.3.6 (stock)
HTC Desire Z : ViperZ 1.1.0 (ICS 4.0.4 Sense4.1)
Alcatel OT 986 : MIUI 3.2.8 (android 4.0.4)
Huawei U8730 : gingerbread 2.3.6 (stock)

use

adb reboot bootloader (I think this works ? even though it shouldn't)

then use fastboot boot to boot a recovery image

fastboot boot whatever.img

then

back it up from clockworkmod

or you could use the (exploit less ) new version of romdump

or QPST or PSAS

Do the following:

Root using superboot. The topic is pinned .

Go to the topic saying request for romdump of unlocked skate.

Follow the link on the first post and follow the instructions there.

DONT DO THIS!!

there currently is no root exploit that works with 2.3.4 (that I know of at least) so you need to do the following..

plug the phone into your pc and let it install the drivers, the phone should show up as a CD drive the first time you hook it up...

Once you have the drivers installed you should be able to use ADB, you can enable this this by going into options/applications and turning on remote debugging..

grab a copy of ClockworkMod recovery from this forum, and unzip it somehwere

it should come with a copy of fastboot-windows.exe and adb-windows.exe

now you should be able to type 'adb-windows.exe reboot bootloader'

and your phone should reboot and stay at the android/SFR logo/other, once that happens you should  type 'fastboot-windows.exe boot clockworkmod.img'  and clockwork mod will boot...

once there you can use clockwork mod to do a full nadroid backup, make sure you only share your boot.img, recovery.img and system.img files, the other ones will contain your personal information..

Wait. The superboot pinned on the forum is made for the zte skate specifically running 2.3.4.

Yes, and the superboot is a boot partition replacement... if he (/she) installs it onto another device, at worst it wont boot, and at best we'll get a romdump with a fairly important part missing.. (the kernel)

I thought we had leant our lesson with the Blade's Superboot that was based on 1st gen OLED kernel... I lost count of the number of people with Blue screens or just not booting gen2 blades because they found some guide online that said the HAD to install superboot....

You don't need to be rooted to install clockwork mod.

Don't know. In any case backup your phone using clockwork mod first and then try and flash superboot if it doesn't boot you can restore from backup.
